Abstract
Teachers are one of the most powerful factors in students’ academic performance, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the learning platform is online, it is necessary for teachers to transform their role from knowledge providers to coaches. This transformation is to ensure the nurturing learning environment, which is needed the most in the midst of this pandemic for students’ academic success. Creating a supportive
environment in the online classroom is certainly essential. Thus, this academic article will shed light on the importance of the language teacher role to students’ successful academic performance and how they can be supported to become professional teachers in the digital age.
